Dan, what a great trip. Thanks so much for writing this -- I saw it via LinkedIn updates.

I am inspired by your story, and I hope you write more about the thoughts and reflections that you experienced. So far away from the world that we are used to, and so in touch with nature. I'd like to make this journey sometime as well.

One safari I've heard of some years ago, which I've since been inspired by involved bicycling across the savannah. You camped in seals style wilderness camps, and had to stay up at night on a rotating watch. Although, your allusion to never touching the ground makes me wonder about the safety of this.

Please tell us all a little bit about the smells of your safari in your next post - it's the aspect of the place and those experiences I have the hardest time imagining.

Have anyone noticed that earthquake is a bit frequent these days? . Does climate change have any thing to do with earthquake?

Dan:

Firstly, thanks to you and your lovely wife for helping us find our nanny! Great business concept.

I have been an entrepreneur in the natural and specialty food space for over 12 years. Recently, I had an AH HA moment that was inspired by sites such as yours. I have a concept that I believe can be just as succesful as Sittercity in my industry.
It is nothing like Sittercity's business model but has some similarity to it as well as other sites like Ebay and Facebook.

I would love the chance to meet with you on the phone if you can spare a few minutes. I have found over the years that fellow entrepreneurs can provide invaluable advice.

Feel free to buzz me on my cell if you get the chance. 404.425.4301.

Regards,

David Abrahams

Social networks function better as walled gardens because they are based around "public" content. The separate networks serve to organize what would otherwise be chaotic noise, and makes privacy control much simpler. The fact that my LinkedIn network can't access my facebook profile is a feature.
