About

By Dan, January 7, 2010 4:35 am

Welcome to my blog.  In the old-fashioned sense of blogging, it’s just a place on the web where I scribble down thoughts from time to time, especially with I’m fed up with a 140-character limit.

My name is Dan Ratner and I’m a Chicago-based serial entrepreneur, writer, raconteur, boulevardier and man about town.  I’m the Chairman of Sittercity.com, co-author of two books on nanotechnology and a proud board member of Open Books, Chicago’s biggest literacy non-profit, Fulcrum Point, Chicago’s leading new music arts organization and OperaModa, an opera company dedicated to featuring young and emerging opera artists.

If you are so inclined, you can find me on Linked In, Twitter, TED or on the run from something unpleasant.

My blog is just my own thoughts and views, not those of any of the organizations I’m a part of.  I hope you’ll find them to be filled with intrigue, insight and with wine.  Particularly with wine.

Firstly, thanks to you and your lovely wife for helping us find our nanny! Great business concept.

I have been an entrepreneur in the natural and specialty food space for over 12 years. Recently, I had an AH HA moment that was inspired by sites such as yours. I have a concept that I believe can be just as succesful as Sittercity in my industry.
It is nothing like Sittercity’s business model but has some similarity to it as well as other sites like Ebay and Facebook.

I would love the chance to meet with you on the phone if you can spare a few minutes. I have found over the years that fellow entrepreneurs can provide invaluable advice.

Feel free to buzz me on my cell if you get the chance. 404.425.4301.

    Regards,

    David Abrahams
